Baseball Recap: Lewiston's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Lewiston was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Post Falls Trojans by a score of 8-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bengals as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jayden Estlund tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Keatan Phillips and Jackson Casey did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Casey scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Phillips has posted since back in April of 2024.

Lewiston now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Post Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Lewiston will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Moscow at 2:00 p.m. on April 8. Post Falls also won't see the field for a while: their next match is against Coeur d'Alene at 3:00 p.m. on April 8. Coeur d'Alene will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
