Basketball Recap: Hazelwood East Comes Up Short

Hazelwood East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Alton Redbirds, falling 89-20. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 402nd in Missouri, while the Redbirds are ranked fifth in Illinois).

Hazelwood East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Alton, their victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.

Hazelwood East has already played their next match (against McCluer North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Alton will square off against Taylorville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
