It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Talihina had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 30-20 victory over the Barnsdall Panthers. The Golden Tigers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Talihina found their leader in sophomore Landen Griffith, who rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes. Cy Ammons also helped out as he racked up 112 receiving yards.
Griffith was just one part of a punishing run game: Talihina was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Talihina's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Barnsdall, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-5.
