After a string of three wins, La Joya Community's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Sierra Linda Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Fighting Lobos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Michael Essien wasn't going to let Sierra Linda walk away unscathed as he scored both of La Joya Community's goals, bringing his season total up to five goals.

La Joya Community now has a losing record at 5-6-1. As for Sierra Linda, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Joya Community will host Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sierra Linda, they will face off against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st.
