Basketball Recap: John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles vs. Badger Braves
After a string of three wins, the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Badger by a score of 53-51. John F. Kennedy Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Darney, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Darney hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Addy Odille was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, John F. Kennedy Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Badger only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Katie Grexa was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds for Badger. Grexa hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Brianna Huscroft, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
John F. Kennedy Catholic's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Badger, their victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2.
John F. Kennedy Catholic will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Badger, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Red Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th.
