Volleyball Recap: Buna Comes Up Short

Buna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 2-0 to the Port Neches-Groves Indians. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

While Buna was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-23.

Cecilee Ford paced Buna's offense, picking up five kills. Ford got some help from Alyssa Stanley and her five assists.

Buna's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Port Neches-Groves, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Buna didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Splendora on the 16th. As for Port Neches-Groves, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against West Fork on the 16th.
