Baseball Recap: Onalaska Takes a Loss

Onalaska had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-12 to make it four. They fell just short of the La Crosse Central Riverhawks by a score of 7-5. The Hilltoppers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Riverhawks earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Onalaska saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bradyn Delong, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Delong is becoming a predictor of the Hilltoppers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 7-11 when he doesn't). Carson Zinnecker was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for La Crosse Central, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 5-18 record. The game was the first time they have beaten Onalaska on their field since May 2, 2022.

On La Crosse Central's side, Aiden Schulze made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Schulze a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derrick Pangier, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Landon Smith, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Onalaska nor La Crosse Central have any future games scheduled.
