Baseball Recap: Key Has No Trouble Against Chapelgate Christian Academy

While Key put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Chapelgate Christian Academy. The Obezags were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Yellowjackets. Considering the Obezags have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Wyatt Dowton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.1 innings pitched. Dowton was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. He has become a key player for Key: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, John Fisher and Sean Flynn did most of the damage at the plate: Fisher went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Flynn scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Flynn is becoming a predictor of Key's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Alex Neenan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Key moved to 5-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Chapelgate Christian Academy will welcome Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Key will be paying especially close attention to the Yellowjackets' matchup: after the Yellowjackets faces off against the Quakers, they'll take on Key again at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
