Basketball Game Preview: Evergreen Cougars vs. Eagle Valley Devils

The Evergreen Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Eagle Valley Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Evergreen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Evergreen is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since February 7, 2024 on Thursday. They blew past St. Mary's Academy 47-27. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Evergreen relied on the efforts of Elle Buenning, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, and Addie McEvers, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. That's the most boards Buenning has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avery Coppin, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Eagle Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Grand Junction Central on Tuesday and fell 44-42.

Evergreen's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Eagle Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
