Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Rickards

Rickards put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past the Fort Walton Beach Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 58-41. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Vikings are ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rickards' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jariyah Jordan, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Jordan is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Amirahs Hayes, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alyx Hall, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Smith, who had seven points.

Rickards' record now sits at 3-0. As for Fort Walton Beach, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Rickards wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-29 victory against Godby on the 6th. As for Fort Walton Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-46 win against Pine Forest on the 5th.
