Baseball Recap: Mesilla Valley Christian School Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Mesilla Valley Christian School won against Oak Grove Classical Academy last Saturday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The SonBlazers blew past the Hatch Valley Bears 14-5. The SonBlazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

Jeremiah Sullivan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 13 times he's played.

In other batting news, Weston Marr was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Borde, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Mesilla Valley Christian School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win was the third in a row for Mesilla Valley Christian School, bringing their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Hatch Valley, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Coming up, Mesilla Valley Christian School will venture away from home to face off against Capitan at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The SonBlazers are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Hatch Valley, they will host Socorro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
