Recap: Brackenridge Eagles vs. Alamo Heights Mules

The Brackenridge Eagles lost against the Alamo Heights Mules back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Brackenridge fell 49-38 to Alamo Heights. While losing is never fun, Brackenridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 680th, while Alamo Heights is ranked 118th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Javi Solis, who scored five points along with seven assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Cardona, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.

It was another big night for Hayes Waddy, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds for Alamo Heights. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Waddy has scored all season. John Budenholzer was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five assists and two steals.

Brackenridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-16. As for Alamo Heights, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brackenridge will stay at home for another game and welcome MacArthur at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Alamo Heights will take on Sam Houston at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Sam Houston is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
