Baseball Recap: Bay Port Takes a Loss

Bay Port entered their contest against Vel Phillips Memorial on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pirates took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans.

Carson Hawley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Cayden Heier also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bay Port's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Bay Port and Vel Phillips Memorial should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Pirates will face off against Sheboygan South at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (61 vs. 309). Meanwhile, Vel Phillips Memorial (ranked 22nd) will meet Madison La Follette (ranked 329th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
