Baseball Recap: Seneca Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Victory

Seneca entered their tilt with De Soto on Monday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates an 8-0 shutout. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Jack Gallagher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Konichek, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Oppriecht, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Seneca pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for De Soto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.
