Preview: Hernando Leopards vs. Mitchell Mustangs
After two games on the road, Hernando is heading back home. They will take on the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Hernando suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 65-41 defeat at the hands of Lecanto. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hernando in their matchups with Lecanto: they've now lost three in a row.
Hernando's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kayla Holloman, who scored 15 points, and Aislin Ruppe who scored 13 points. That was a full 36.6% of Hernando's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Mitchell pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 71-57 to Seven Rivers Christian. Mitchell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hernando's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8. As for Mitchell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.
