Softball Recap: Clarke County Comes Up Short

Clarke County extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They lost 14-0 to the Jackson Aggies. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

As for Jackson, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-7. Considering they have won 19 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Jackson's part, Zoey Rooks made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Rooks has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kristen Yeager was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gabby Howard, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Clarke County has already played their next contest, a 16-0 defeat against Blacksher on the 17th. As for Jackson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Citronelle on the 17th.
