Basketball Game Preview: West Florence Knights vs. Lugoff-Elgin Demons

The West Florence Knights will head out to square off against the Lugoff-Elgin Demons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with 14 losses in a row dating back to last season, West Florence turned things around against Central last Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eagles 54-3. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Lugoff-Elgin entered their tilt with Cathedral Academy on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 50-15 victory over the Generals. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 27 points or more this season.

Lugoff-Elgin found their leader in sophomore Teryn Hobson, who went 8 for 16 on her way to 18 points in addition to six steals and four blocks. That's the most blocks Hobson has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Wilson, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and five boards.

Lugoff-Elgin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

The win got Lugoff-Elgin back to even at 7-7. As for West Florence, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
