Softball Game Preview: Abbott Panthers vs. Riesel Indians

The Abbott Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Riesel Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Abbott is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Abbott came up short against Axtell on Friday, falling 7-1. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kylee Nors was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Riesel entered their tilt with Dawson on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bulldogs. 11 seems to be a good number for the Indians as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Riesel pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Abbott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Abbott might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Riesel in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can Abbott avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
