Recap: Ellicott Thunderhawks vs. Brush Beetdiggers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Buena Vista, the Ellicott Thunderhawks were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They snuck past Brush with a 35-30 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Ellicott also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Ellicott can attribute much of their success to Kassiah Ducworth, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ducworth has scored at least a third of Ellicott's points. Teysia Tacoronte was another key contributor, scoring no points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.

Brush's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jocelynn Middlemist, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds, and Sarah Becker who scored five points along with four steals. Becker hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.

Ellicott's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Brush, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellicott will play host again and welcome Manitou Springs, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Manitou Springs is ranked 207th, while Ellicott is ranked 211th). As for Brush, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Frontier Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
