Baseball Preview: Smithfield Packers vs. Warhill Lions
The Smithfield Packers will square off against the Warhill Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Smithfield will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Smithfield proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lafayette 8-6.
Walton Bondurant was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Nick Gaspar was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Ashton Ellis, who scored two runs.

Logan Timberg was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lloyd Findlay, who scored four runs while going 4-for-5.
Warhill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peninsula Catholic only posted an OBP of .381.
Warhill now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Smithfield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
