Basketball Game Preview: Springport Spartans vs. Stockbridge Panthers

The Springport Spartans will be taking part in a tournament against the Stockbridge Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Springport will bounce into Friday's game after beating Leslie, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Springport had just enough and edged out Leslie 53-51.

Meanwhile, Stockbridge came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 75-26 win over the Aggies. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 23 points or more this season.

Stockbridge's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points over those games. As for Springport, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Springport ended up a good deal behind Stockbridge when the teams last played back in January, losing 59-45. Can Springport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
