Softball Recap: Immokalee Has No Trouble Against East Lee County

With a playoff win on the line, Immokalee rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the East Lee County Jaguars. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.

Maria Marino made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Immokalee got a massive performance out of Yazmin Herrera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Herrera has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Silguero, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Immokalee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Immokalee's record is now 11-15. As for East Lee County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Immokalee didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-5 defeat against Riverdale on the 29th. East Lee County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
