Basketball Recap: Windermere Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oak Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Windermere Prep). They enjoyed a cozy 80-65 win over the Oak Ridge Pioneers on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lakers.

Windermere Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alayiah Johnson, who went 7 for 9 en route to 20 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyn Bowman, who went 10 of 14 on her way to 25 points along with seven boards and five assists.

Johnson wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Windermere Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Khalise Vidal, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. Vidal has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 40 times she's played. Sarah Jean was another key player, going 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points and eight boards.

Windermere Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Oak Ridge, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-8.

Windermere Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-38 loss against Winter Haven on the 24th. Oak Ridge has also already played their next matchup, a 61-57 victory against Leesburg on the 25th.
