Preview: Fallbrook Warriors vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils
Fallbrook has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Fallbrook's 9-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Rancho Bernardo 31-26.
Fallbrook's loss came about despite a quality game from Chris Bausch, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Bausch's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Evan Thomas was another key contributor, throwing for 141 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 20-10 to Del Norte. While losing is never fun, Mt. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Del Norte is ranked 83rd).
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Trevor Taumoepeau, who threw for 221 yards and a touchdown.
Fallbrook has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Mt. Carmel, their loss also dropped their record down to an identical 3-5.
