Northern Lakes recap Oct. 3, 2012

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Springfield, who took down 320th ranked Northview, 35-14.

Steve Slocum and Austin Bishop provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Southview. The connection went for 94 yards, the longest such play in Northern Lakes this season.

Perrysburg's dynamic duo of Slocum and Bishop proved tough for the Cougars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Slocum threw for 241 yards and one touchdown and Bishop had 147 yards receiving. Austin Lee helped Perrysburg's passing attack out by catching one ball for 54 yards.

Max Westhoven was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 149 yards on 17 carries as Napoleon beat Southview. Teammate Bryant Schlade added to the ground attack by rushing for 54 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Steve Duby and Andrew Schultz Maumee has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Duby leads the league in passing with 974 yards, while Schultz has rushed for 734 yards this season. The Wildcats' Jordan Lauf leads the league in receiving yards with 327 on 13 catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Napoleon takes on Anthony Wayne. Tory Strock's team is currently in first, while the Generals are in third.

The Blue Devils moved up to 434 from 566 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northern Lakes. A 35-14 win over the Wildcats helped Springfield improve its standing.
