Baseball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

Zeigler-Royalton won the last time they faced Wayne City and things went their way on Friday too. The Tornadoes put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 11-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tornadoes, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Chase Freeman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Bradden Mays was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Lukas Moyers also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Zeigler-Royalton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Zeigler-Royalton is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Wayne City, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-9 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zeigler-Royalton will welcome Vienna at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wayne City, they will host Cisne at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
