Baseball Game Preview: Lansdale Catholic Crusaders vs. Cardinal O'Hara Lions

The Lansdale Catholic Crusaders will challenge the Cardinal O'Hara Lions at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Lansdale Catholic will be strutting in after a win while Cardinal O'Hara will be coming in after a defeat.

Lansdale Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Devon Prep. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Tide recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ben Holdsworth was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has become a key player for Lansdale Catholic: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-7 otherwise. Holdsworth was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Holdsworth wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Benner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Dan Grosch also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Cardinal O'Hara was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-1 to Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Cardinal O'Hara, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Lansdale Catholic beat Cardinal O'Hara 9-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
