Volleyball Recap: Bear Creek Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Bear Creek unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Highlands Ranch Falcons by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 15 in a row.

Bear Creek took Highlands Ranch into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 17-15.

Thomas Amirah paced Bear Creek's offense, picking up 12 kills. Amirah got some help from Hannah Anderson and her 28 assists. Miley Gutierrez controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Highlands Ranch was led to victory by Ava Buckley and Ezra McGinnis. Buckley had 26 digs and two aces, while McGinnis had 12 assists and five digs. That's the most digs McGinnis has posted since back in September of 2024.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bear Creek is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Conifer at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Highlands Ranch, they will head out to square off against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
