Basketball Game Preview: Centerburg Trojans vs. Fairbanks Panthers

The Centerburg Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Fairbanks Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Centerburg's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so Fairbanks' offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Centerburg humbled Beechcroft with a 68-33 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fairbanks ended up a good deal behind Buckeye Valley on Monday and lost 55-37. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Barons are ranked 106th).

Fairbanks' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Centerburg, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3.

Everything went Centerburg's way against Fairbanks in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as Centerburg made off with a 44-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerburg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
