Baseball Game Preview: West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors vs. Santa Rosa Christian

West Florida Baptist Academy and Santa Rosa Christian are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors will venture away from home to challenge Santa Rosa Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. West Florida Baptist Academy has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Last Thursday, West Florida Baptist Academy came up short against Aletheia Christian Academy and fell 12-7.

Evan Richardson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Richardson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Cruz Duncan was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ethan Salter, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Rosa Christian). They put the hurt on Gulf Pointe Latin with a sharp 20-0 win on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what Santa Rosa Christian needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Santa Rosa Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

West Florida Baptist Academy took their victory against Santa Rosa Christian when the teams last played last Tuesday by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Florida Baptist Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
