Baseball Game Preview: New Madrid County Central Eagles vs. South Pemiscot Bulldogs

The New Madrid County Central Eagles will take on the South Pemiscot Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Madrid County Central's hitters has struggled lately (they haven't scored a run in four consecutive games), something the team is no doubt ready to change.

It was a Battle of the Birds when New Madrid County Central faced off against Oak Ridge on Thursday. The Eagles lost 15-0 to the Blue Jays.

Meanwhile, South Pemiscot came into Monday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Hayti 16-0 on Monday. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Logan Southern made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Southern was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Parker Carlisle was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Floyd, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

South Pemiscot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-10. As for New Madrid County Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

New Madrid County Central couldn't quite get it done against South Pemiscot in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as they fell 9-4. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
