Petal gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They never let the Columbia Wildcats onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Panthers have posted since April 4, 2024.

Dawson Dykes was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Layne Adams, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Petal will square off against Forrest County Agricultural at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Columbia, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against West Marion at 6:30 p.m.
