Softball Recap: Kalamazoo Christian Takes a Loss

Kalamazoo Christian has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.36 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Wayland Wildcats, falling 16-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 on Friday.

Madalyn Vlietstra was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Carien Ybema was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Kalamazoo Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Wayland, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Coming up, Kalamazoo Christian will challenge Constantine at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wayland, they will square off against Thornapple Kellogg at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
