Football Recap: Plainview Pulls Away from Boaz

The Boaz Pirates lost to the Plainview Bears on the road by a 41-25 margin on Friday.

Boaz's loss wasn't for lack of effort from Dayton Porter: he rushed for 112 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 57 receiving yards in a losing cause. The 112 yards were his most since at least August 22nd last year, when he rushed for 112 vs. Plainview.

It was the Kylen Johnson show as he single-handedly carved up the defense, picking up 189 receiving yards and 2 TDs, while also rushing for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 5 carries. Johnson has also been consistently good when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in 2 every time he's taken the field this season. Mac Long was another key player, throwing for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Boaz's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Plainview, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Boaz didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 22-14 win against Douglas on the 4th. As for Plainview, they have also already played their next game, a 56-12 victory against New Hope on the 4th.
