Baseball Recap: Russell Find Success

On Thursday Russell's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Ellinwood Eagles. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Broncos have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Max Evans made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Russell's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Ellinwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Russell beat the Eagles by a score of 11-1 later that day.
