Basketball Recap: Biggs Falls Despite Big Games from Skyler Long and Brady Smith

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Biggs couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. The game between the Biggs Wolverines and the Redding Christian Lions didn't end well, with the Biggs Wolverines falling 50-32. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Brady Smith and Skyler Long certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Smith posted nine points and six assists, while Long earned six points in addition to ten boards and three blocks. Long has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last ten times he's played. Hunter Seipert was another key player, putting up eight points.

The defeat snapped Biggs' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-9 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points over those games. As for Redding Christian, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 27-3.

Biggs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 90-57 loss against St. Bernard's on the 5th. As for Redding Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-33 win against Mendocino on the 5th.
