Preview: West Tallahatchie Choctaws vs. Shaw Warriors
The West Tallahatchie Choctaws will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Shaw Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on December 26th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though West Tallahatchie has not done well against Coahoma County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. It was close, but West Tallahatchie ultimately received the gift of a 33-31 victory from a begrudging Choctawssquad.
West Tallahatchie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyneesha Washington, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Mi'Kenzi Christian, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Shaw's and Leflore County's match on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Shaw turned on the heat in the second half with 30 points. Everything went Shaw's way against Leflore County as Shaw made off with a 57-37 win. Winning may never get old, but Shaw sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
West Tallahatchie's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Shaw, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
West Tallahatchie might still be hurting after the 52-30 loss they got from Shaw in their previous meeting back in February. Can West Tallahatchie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
