Basketball Preview: Fleming Wildcats vs. South Platte Blue Knights
The Fleming Wildcats will take on the South Platte Blue Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If South Platte heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Fleming took over last week. Fleming found their leader in sophomore Hadley Stull, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stull has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ashley Bornhoft, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Fleming smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Platte waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Longhorns 49-20. The Blue Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Fleming better keep an eye on Johanna Frerichs. She was instrumental in South Platte's win, going 9 of 12 on her way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five steals. That's the most assists Frerichs has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlynn Brown, who posted nine points.
