Coronado took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against University City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Islanders won by a set and slipped past the Centurions 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Islanders have posted since May 7, 2024.

Coronado wouldn't go down easily and took University City into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 27-29, 16-25, 15-10.

Coronado is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for University City, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will head out to square off against High Tech SD at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University City, they will venture away from home to take on Canyon Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Centurions are facing the Rattlers at the right time seeing as the Rattlers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
