Basketball Recap: Reserve Takes a Loss

After flying high against Animas last Saturday, Reserve came back down to earth. The Reserve Mountaineers fell just short of the Magdalena Steers by a score of 36-33 on Tuesday. The Mountaineers haven't had much luck with the Steers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Magdalena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jema Ganadonegro led the charge by going 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points and six steals. That's the most steals Ganadonegro has posted since back in December of 2024. Jorianne Mirabal was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Magdalena, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Reserve didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-33 loss against Cliff on the 20th. Magdalena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
