The St. Bernard Saints are taking a road trip to square off against the Wheeler Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Bernard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

St. Bernard lost 13-1 to Waterford on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Saints in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost five in a row.

St. Bernard saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Scribner, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Scribner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Wheeler entered their match against Griswold on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lions came up short against the Wolverines, falling 19-5. Surprisingly, this marked the Lions' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Addie Stanley and Isabella Deledda did some serious damage despite the final result: Stanley went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Deledda went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Shay Deary, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Wheeler's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for St. Bernard, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Bernard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Wheeler struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

St. Bernard came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
