It's playoff time, and Freedom Area had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers a 2-0 shutout on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

The result came thanks to Boden Hilliard's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tommy Ward, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Freedom Area's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mercyhurst Prep, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 24-2.

As of now, neither Freedom Area nor the Lakers have any future games scheduled.
