Softball Game Preview: Scappoose Indians vs. Seaside Seagulls

Scappoose has gone a perfect 10-0 against Seaside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Seagulls at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Scappoose has eight straight wins, Seaside has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Saturday, Scappoose got the win against Marist by a conclusive 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sophia Bloyd and Saige Casey did most of the damage at the plate: Bloyd went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Casey scored three runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ava Vetsch, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Scappoose was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Seaside lost 16-3 to St. Mary's on Thursday.

Scappoose's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Seaside, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Scappoose's way against Seaside in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Scappoose made off with a 13-1 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Seagulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
