Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Lemoore Tigers

The Pleasant Grove Eagles and the Lemoore Tigers will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Pleasant Grove came up short against Turlock and fell 60-51.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from AJ Breslin, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Pharrell Williams, who earned 15 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lemoore's and Sierra Pacific's match on Thursday was close at halftime, but Lemoore turned on the heat in the second half with 39 points. Lemoore blew past Sierra Pacific 78-56. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Pleasant Grove better focus on containing Papa Laye and Jaimeir Campbell as the pair were huge in Lemoore's win. Laye went 10 of 19 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds, while Campbell went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. Those 23 points gave Laye a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoby Notah, who put up seven points and three steals.

Lemoore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Lemoore pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Pleasant Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
