Baseball Game Preview: Riverdale Chieftains vs. Mineral Point Pointers

The Riverdale Chieftains will venture away from home to face off against the Mineral Point Pointers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverdale's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Mineral Point's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Riverdale is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since April 8, 2025 on Thursday. They lost 9-2 to Dodgeville. The Chieftains have struggled against the Dodgers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Mineral Point was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Platteville. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mineral Point's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Riverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Riverdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Mineral Point in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
