Basketball Recap: Rolla Drops Highest Score of Season Against Montgomery County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rolla). They took their match on Monday with ease, bagging a 78-20 victory over the Montgomery County Wildcats. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

Rolla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mariah Watkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine steals. Those 29 points gave Watkins a new career-high. Akaela Caquelin was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten assists.

Rolla was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Rolla is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 31.8% in those games and 27% outside of them. As for Montgomery County, they moved to 8-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Rolla will take on Owensville in a tournament on Wednesday. As for Montgomery County, they will take on Van-Far at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
