Football Game Preview: Skyline Hawks vs. Meridian Mustangs + How To Watch

Skyline is 6-1 against Meridian since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hawks will square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Meridian will be up against a hot Skyline team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Hawks breezed past Warren County to the tune of 42-6 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.

Zayden Burks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 340 yards and five scores while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 21 rushing touchdowns on the season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Skyline was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 360 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Meridian came up short against Skyline two weeks ago and fell 43-33. The Mustangs have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Skyline will have to contain Oumar Thompson as he made an impact in Meridian's last game. He rushed for 191 yards and one TD while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Another rusher making a difference was Alex Jacobson, who rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown.

Skyline's record is now 7-3. As for Meridian, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Burks and Duke Dawson. Burks just won't slow down this season and has run in 21 touchdowns while averaging 223.4 rushing yards per game. Dawson has been a dominant force too and has run in 7 touchdowns while averaging 93 rushing yards per game.

Skyline was able to grind out a solid win over Meridian when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 43-33. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
