Basketball Recap: College Prep & Leadership Academy's Loss Ends 13-Game Winning Streak at Home

It was a good run, but College Prep & Leadership Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop McGuinness Villains. If the Royals were looking for revenge after losing 72-54 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

College Prep & Leadership Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bryce Mckenzie, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Mckenzie a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Sturdivant, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points.

Even though they lost, College Prep & Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-3. As for Bishop McGuinness, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

College Prep & Leadership Academy will host Winston-Salem Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. College Prep & Leadership Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Winston-Salem Prep likes a good challenge. As for Bishop McGuinness, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-45 victory against Piedmont Classical on the 3rd.
