Baseball Recap: Menomonie's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Menomonie hadn't done well against La Crosse Central recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Riverhawks a 10-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three contests in a row.

Menomonie got a great performance from Bailey Casey as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Casey a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Owen Welch was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cage Sorenson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Menomonie's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.5 runs. As for La Crosse Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Menomonie will square off against Eau Claire Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Crosse Central, they will take on Tomah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
