Basketball Game Preview: Charlton County Indians vs. Irwin County Indians

Charlton County hasn't had much luck against Irwin County recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 5:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Friday, Charlton County ended up a good deal behind Clinch County and lost 63-48. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while the Panthers are ranked 166th).

Meanwhile, Irwin County lost to Turner County on the road by a 53-39 margin on Friday. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Defeat or not, Irwin County got some senior leadership from Sam Guy and Jaylen Martin. Guy posted six points along with 13 boards and four blocks, while Martin earned ten points. Guy is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 15 games he's played.

Charlton County's loss dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Irwin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Charlton County ended up a good deal behind Irwin County in their previous matchup last Friday, losing 48-34. Can Charlton County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
